thankFUL

Sometimes when you are a teacher you are reminded of and learn about different things that you would not  if you were not a teacher. For example I remember learning about prefixes and suffixes when I was in school but really never thought twice about them after that. Well in 2nd grade in the great state of Texas one of the MANY things my kiddos have to learn are suffixes. Suffixes just so happen to fall in  October/November according to our curriculum which is perfect to talk about being thankful, and learning what the suffix -ful means. If you look up the -ful suffix in the dictionary it says it is derived from the Old English word "full" and means to be full of something.  I'm getting to the point..*promise*.. So every year around Thanksgiving I (and I'm pretty sure everyone else in America)  always think about what I am thankful for, but this year I gave it a little more thought. When you are full after eating you can barely breath and fill like you might explode, or when a closet is full of things you can barely get the door to close. I feel like that is how we should be with the things that we are thankful for in our lives, and I know I do not always act or seem that way...We should not be able to keep how thankful we are about the people in our lives and our blessing inside without exploding. We should be bursting from the seams with wanting to tell everyone how thankful and grateful we are for them and all the blessings that we have. I know you are thinking how can you get all of that from little grammar lesson about suffixes..but sometimes it just hits ya..or it could be the hormones, I'll let you be the judge!

This Thanksgiving the Buck's are so very thankful for many things and people but one MAJOR thing that we  can not even express how thankful we are for is our little blessing God has given us..who we will get to meet in a short 6 months! (*becomes more real when you write it out!!*) We are thankful that He thought that we would make the best parents for this little baby, and we are thankful that He trusts us with such a precious gift.

We are also so thankful for our families! Lucky for us both of our families live near us so we get to see both sides on the holidays. First we went to my parents on Thanksgiving morning for homemade cinnamon rolls ** which the husband quickly asked why I had not made for him yet..caught red handed**! We got to see my brother and his wife, which is always fun since they live in Oklahoma! It is so funny to me how much more it means to me now to be with my family and to spend time with them! Not that it didn't mean anything to me when I was younger it just means so much more now and it is so fun!  Here are a few snapshots from our morning/afternoon with my side of the family!
This is Angus' my parents dog ( I think she is mine too..and she loves me just as much if not more) one of her favorite places to be is in the kitchen where there is a good chance someone will give her food!
This cute little puppy is my brother and sister-in-laws, her name is Lucy. She is also a big fan of the kitchen. Angus' loves when Lucy comes to play but Lucy is still not that fond of Angus. Angus is a Toy Australian shepherd so it is in her blood to herd, and we think she sees Lucy as a sheep and just wants to herd and play with her all day long...where as Lucy would prefer to just be in her momma's arms or lap!
Here is my FAVORITE and only brother, Cole and his wife, Annie. Cole is in residency right now at Oklahoma University and Annie is a teacher as well in Oklahoma.
My mom and me...which I'm sure she is not going to be a fan of putting this on here but she must be documented :)

I love these two group photos of us that we got take using Annie's fancy timer on her phone. People always say it is difficult to get babies and toddlers to cooperate, but grown guys are no easier...my husband looking the wrong way on the first pictures (he claims he thought he had 3 more second before go time..) and my brother pretending he is Dr. Evil from Austin Powers in the second...gotta take what you can get I guess!
Just us on our very first Thanksgiving as a married couple! After my parents house we went down to the in-laws house, which is about 45 minutes from my parents. It worked out perfectly because by the time we at dinner there we were hungry again! While we were waiting for dinner to be finished we created christmas ornaments (..I think this is going to be a yearly tradition, so fun!) and the husband taught his nephew, Ari, how to shoot a BB gun. Will has been really wanting to teach him for a long time so it was neat that he finally go to do it, even though he might of had to bribe him to shoot with money! If we have a boy I think his daddy is going to want him shooting a BB gun as soon as he can stand on his own two feet.
Here is my ornament that I painted while we waited for dinner!

We even managed to get a picture with our nephew this year! We don't have to many pictures with all three of us (4 now!!) so this was fun to do!

We had a great Thanksgiving with both sides of our families and it is crazy for us to think that this time next year we will have a 6 month old baby in tow! One of the major topics of discussion this year around the table was baby names...oh the possibilities! Thought I can tell you we are getting closer to narrowing it down! Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and remember to be "full" of thanks throughout this Christmas season coming up and the rest of the year!

Bump update ~ 14 Weeks

.....26 weeks to go!
(Not the best quality picture...need to invest in a decent camera besides the iPhone!)
How Far Along: 14 weeks
Size of Baby: Baby Buck is the size of a Naval Orange or 4.5 inches and about 2 to 3 oz
Total Weight Gain: According to our last doctor visit around 6 pounds but that was about 2 weeks ago, so probably a pound or two more!
Gender: Don't know yet! We did the ring test last night and it predicted a boy!
Though I'm pretty sure the mister might of been controlling the ring a little bit and he did say the 7 cups of coffee he had that day might of made his hands shaky! We should find out at the beginning of January what baby Buck is! At first I was convinced it was a girl but now I'm beginning to think it might be a boy!
Maternity Clothes: None yet! I do have a pair of jeans that require the good ol' rubber band trick, but luckily most of my tops are the tunic style or loose fitting so they are working great! My goal is to make it to at least January with no maternity clothes, we shall see!
What I miss: Not waking up 2 times a night or only being able to sleep in increments of 2 or 3 hours!
Sleep:
Cravings: FRUIT!!! I feel like I can't ever get enough. I also have really wanted to chips this week too! The first two months all I wanted were pickles and luckily that has changed a bit, I'm pretty sure it grossed the husband out and he was tired of his weekly trips to the store for a jar of pickles.
Best moment of the week: It hasn't happened yet but my brother and sister -in-law are coming in town tomorrow from Oklahoma and I can't wait to see them! They get to spend Thanksgiving with us and we are so excited because we weren't sure they were going to because my brother is in residency and his schedule is just crazy! ...and I am on Thanksgiving break from school beginning today! Woohoo!!
Worst moment of the week: Having a lovely lady tell me that she doesn't think that I am going to be the "basketball" type pregnant person but more of the all over pregnant person. I know what she was trying to say but not exactly my favorite thing to hear!!
Movement: No movement yet!!

The first of many..

Well here is blog post number one! I feel like this has been the hardest part, just buckling down and getting started (**insert feeling of accomplishment**)! I have wanted to start this blog a few different times lately for various reasons. First I always said "oh I'll start blogging once I am engaged"...well that came and went and no blog, so then I told myself that I would start blogging when I get married, I've been married for a whopping 8 months, still no blog ( ** be prepared for lovey-dovey newlywed stories in the near future**), then I decided well I can remember everything that happens so I'll wait till we get pregnant so I can document everything forever! Well guess what..we are PREGNANT, and it only took me 3 months since we found out that we are going to have a little addition to our family to start this blog! Don't worry I will get into all the wonderful, shocking, amazing, shocking, perfect, shocking details of us finding out we were pregnant in a different post, but first I figured you would like to know who is behind this blog!
My name is Justi Buck (still getting used to that since it has only been 8 months since I added that new last name to my life) and I am married to the oh so handsome, handy, smart, hard working, dedicated man Will Buck, and like I said earlier we are in that wonderful newlywed stage since we were married in March 2013.
That's us and all our glory on our wedding day! I'll share all about our wedding in another post, just think of this post as a "throw tid bits of random information at you all at once" post!  I am a second grade teacher, in my 4th year of teaching! Yes, that means you are going to get the wonderful privilege to hear various stories from school but I promise they will all be entertaining, since I teach the most hilarious and full of personality group of 2nd graders around! I am a Baylor Bear Alum and would even live in Waco, Texas one day if we were able! If you haven't heard of Waco,Tx get out your map, google map, atlas, or whatever and look it up right now! I had the great opportunity to cheer there when I was in school but of course that was when Baylor Football was lets say playing at little less than their best!
Best picture I could come up with at the moment that didn't have a million other people, not sure if everyone is ready for the blog world quite yet! Just because I know you were wondering yes I still have the uniform and no unfortunately it doesn't fit currently because of this growing bambino inside of me, but I will get back into it one day! So not to bore you anymore on the first post I'll wrap it up to say now my days are filled with learning to be a wife and momma to - be, and teaching 20 fun loving second graders daily, also a bit of crafting, creating, and decorating here and there! The purpose of this blog is to help us remember everything that goes on in our lives and to share it with our family and friends!
